Growing up in a small family owned business Paul LaBarbera had the desire to continue with this tradition. After serving a 5 year apprenticeship with I.B.E.W. Local 150, what is currently known as Magitek Energy Solutions, Inc. was started in 1994 as Reliable Maintenance. He began by offering first quality electrical installations at an affordable price. Our focus at the time was on large custom homes. Over the next couple of years we evolved into Magitek Electric Co., eventually expanding into commercial and industrial installations. With the desire to stay small to better service our customers, we chose to stay loyal to only a select few general contractors. For this reason we are not well known. Our primary niche was commercial office condominiums including medical, dental, and general offices. These installations were comprised of a shell building and as offices were sold or leased we would provide the electrical installation for the tenant. The buildings ranged in size from 7,000 sq. ft. to 50,000 sq. ft. with the tenant spaces being 800 sq. ft. to 16,000 sq. ft. During this time we aligned ourselves with other quality electrical contractors to better offer a wide range of services as well as to better control manpower. We collaborated on projects including the CDW warehouse in Vernon Hills, Herbert Stanley in Gurnee, upgrading the lighting at several Home Depot stores, Amcore Bank in Vernon Hills, and most recently the LA Fitness in Waukegan.

In the spring of 2008, with the personal desire to become more environmentally responsible and economically prudent, we began searching for viable green energy products. We became intrigued with wind technology and after extensive investigation; the decision was made to focus our attention on this market, resulting in the creation of Magitek Energy Solutions, Inc. Since that time we have been researching various product lines to determine which offer the best advantages. After careful consideration, weighing all of the available products we chose to represent both HelixWind™ and Southwest Windpower. We feel these are the most cost-effective, cutting edge products available today. Though we will continue to be a full service electrical contractor, our focus will be on Green Energy products and installations.
